Microsoft announced the official price and release date for the Kinect motion sensing camera peripheral. As expected, it will cost $150 and include Kinect Adventures when it launches Nov. 4. In addition, additional Kinect game pricing has been upped to $50 (from $40 quoted at E3).
You don't need a new Xbox 360 to play the Kinect, but it does remove the need to externally power the device. If you've been thinking of upgrading to one of the new "Slim" style Xbox 360s, Microsoft is releasing a 4GB model that includes internal flash memory and WiFi for $200 on August 3 - just be aware that any of your old hard drives will not fit the newer models, so factor that into your decision to get the $200 4GB vs. the $300 250GB hard drive model (standalone 250GB drives cost $130 but so far we haven't seen any sold separately that fit the "Slim" 360s).
If you prefer to wait and get the 4GB Slim and the Kinect together, it will cost $300 as a "Holiday Bundle" - by then, there may be a solution to the confusing hard drive compatibility situation...
