In honor of the launch of Star Trek Online, we have - no, not Star Trek Online. (Though we hear it's awesome!) Perhaps the next best thing, if you're a comic book fan: The complete Star Trek Movie Comic Book Collection on CD-ROM for Mac and PC.
We're keeping one for ourselves, but picked up an extra for one lucky winner. It contains:
- Star Trek: The Motion Picture (3 issues)
- Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
- Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
- Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
- Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
- Star Trek Generations
- Star Trek: First Contact
- Star Trek: The Next Generation Series Finale
- 15 bonus Star Trek comics from Marvel (the box says 18, but we checked and the first three are The Motion Picture; for some reason, only the first issue appears in the movies section)
That's 25 comics in all! (See some sample covers on the jump.)
So take a break from your Star Trek MMO - or win a free alternative while you wait for your checkbook to cool off after the holidays.
To enter:
Simply post a comment on this page. Say whatever is on your mind as long as it's not an ad or profane. Be sure to read the Sweepstakes Rules to ensure you are eligible to win and don't get disqualified by double-posting or forgetting to provide an e-mail address. You may also want to white list this domain; we've had several would-be winners lose out because they never responded to their prize notification! If you use TypeKey/TypePad, be sure your e-mail address will be shared. No e-mail address, no prize. (Don't worry, no one else will see it - and we'll only use it to contact you if you win.)
Note that unless you're an authenticated poster who has been active on the site and marked as trusted, your comment will NOT appear immediately. It will go into a queue for me to approve, which I'll do several times a day (except the first weekend, where comments may not be approved until sometime late on Sunday). Do NOT double-post. We'll extend the entry period for this until 5:01 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, February 11 to ensure you have plenty of time to enter and verify your entry was posted. We also sometimes give away unannounced Instant Win prizes (and we're overdue to have some more of these!). Here are a few tips since this can happen at any time. Check our Busy Gamer Podcast on Sundays for possible hints about what's coming (someday)! 1) Follow Gamewatcher on Twitter. Before we post the next Free Stuff Bonus - Instant Win, we'll give you a fair warning tweet. 2) Subscribe to our RSS feed and set it to check for updates frequently.
We continue to stock up on cool goodies for Free Stuff Friday - and we will keep doing so as long as there's enough response, even if we continue to lose money on this site. So tell your friends about this! Hey, if we get bigger, so will the prizes that YOU could win!
While you're at it, post comments wherever you see something interesting. Also, if you get a game code you don't need or have some other cool game-related prize you want to donate, we'd be very grateful (we pay for most of this stuff ourselves!).

I have always said if I go nuts, think I am a Captain on a Starship, leave me alone. Let me wander around town talking to my away team and sipping Earl Grey Tea.

I would love to have the Star Trek Comic Collection!
...however, Star Trek Online is a major disappointment - very hollow & soulless and did not give me any type of a Star Trek "feel" - it looks like Star Trek, but it is not...

I've found and collected a couple of these comics already. I would love the whole collection since I don't have enough of them to even finish one story.

I've read a few ST comic books, they're pretty good. Hope I win. :-D
Not impressed by the game, though. I played the beta, it was fun, but not $15/month worth of fun.

I used to have a Star Trek Enterprise model on my desk at work, and people paid 25 cents to press the button that played a random track. KHAN! took the pot :)
