This week's giveaway is a special holiday gift valued at $55 - at least that's the cheapest we could find it for. We won it at the Child's Play Charity Auction as part of the Ubisoft Pack, a bizarre collection of games that apparently no one else wanted. Which is why we won. Our goal was to find something nice to win while helping a noble cause, and - once again - our over-extension is your gain. We're keeping the other games (for now at least) as bonus Santa gifts. Alas, we really have no use for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X, a PC flight combat game complete with the very impressive Thrustmaster T.16000M joystick. But we expect you do, so here's you chance for a grand prize and that feeling that you (indirectly) did something to help a truly great charity.
Still not sold? The game is set in 2014, which is THE FUTURE. So you get to experience time travel (sort of). And since you're clearly wondering, H.A.W.X means "High Altitude Warfare eXperimental squadron" - so you're a kind of military Guinea pig. It's compelling! Oh, and Yahtzee rather liked it, which you'll realize is high praise if you follow him.
Oh, you want it now. Here's how to enter:
Simply post a comment on this page. Say whatever is on your mind as long as it's not an ad or profane. Be sure to read the Sweepstakes Rules to ensure you are eligible to win and don't get disqualified by double-posting or forgetting to provide an e-mail address.
You may also want to white list this domain; we've had several would-be winners lose out because they never responded to their prize notification! If you use TypeKey/TypePad, be sure your e-mail address will be shared. No e-mail address, no prize. (Don't worry, no one else will see it - and we'll only use it to contact you if you win.)
Note that unless you're an authenticated poster who has been active on the site and marked as trusted, your comment will NOT appear immediately. It will go into a queue for me to approve, which I'll do several times a day (except the first weekend, where comments may not be approved until sometime late on Sunday). Do NOT double-post. We'll extend the entry period for this until 9:01 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, December 24 to ensure you have plenty of time to enter and verify your entry was posted.
We also sometimes give away unannounced Instant Win prizes. Here are a few tips since this can happen at any time. (As soon as we get past our current busy workload! Check our Busy Gamer Podcast on Sundays for possible hints about what's coming!) 1) Follow Gamewatcher on Twitter. Before we post the next Free Stuff Bonus - Instant Win, we'll give you a fair warning tweet. 2) Subscribe to our RSS feed and set it to check for updates frequently.
We continue to stock up on cool goodies for Free Stuff Friday - and we will keep doing so as long as there's enough response, even if we continue to lose money on this site. So tell your friends about this! Hey, if we get bigger, so will the prizes that YOU could win!
While you're at it, post comments wherever you see something interesting. Also, if you get a game code you don't need or have some other cool game-related prize you want to donate, we'd be very grateful (we pay for most of this stuff ourselves!).
Check back each Friday to see what's next.

HAWX definitely is a lot of fun - but it would be even better if I had the Thrustmaster to thrust myself into a battle with those private militias who threaten the good 'ol US of A!

I played the demo of HAWX back when it was released and it seemed like it could be fun to play through.
The Joystick is the more attractive part of the package, though. I've got an old Logitech Wingman in my closet I haven't been able to use for a long time because it uses the old Gameport connector and I'm not going to buy a $15-$25 adapter to use one peripheral. It'd be neat to have a working Joystick again, for HAWX and other games.

Really enjoyed the game for the 360 and would love to be able to play it with a flightstick on the pc, since my old flightstick was what I used for Flight Simulator 98,lol. Thanks again for the contests :)

Just the sight of that joystick brought back lots of good memories. Particularly my massive amount of time spent playing Falcon 3.0. Last time i've set my hands on a joystick was for Freespace 2 in 2000, also an unforgettable experience. Sadly it broke down on me after years of service and never got another. Played a few space sims without a joystick since then (Independence War 2, Freelancer), but it wasn't quite the same. Got some box copies of X3 and Flight Simulator X staring at me, think it's about time I installed those :)

More TypeKey fun, thanks for the help Gamewatcher! I apparently had an old account (from sometime in 2007) so I had to upgrade to the "New TypePad" then turn on e-mail sharing ON even though my address was placed on the old account.
