Free Stuff Friday - The original Metroid Prime Trilogy

Metroid Prime    Metroid Prime 2: Echoes    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
To celebrate the anniversary of Free Stuff Friday (which launched right after PAX '08), we have a hell of a prize for one lucky winner. If you haven't picked up Metroid Prime Trilogy, here's your chance to get it for free in its original form: The three individually released games that comprise this fantastic Nintendo shooter series. The first two are GameCube games, which will play just fine on your Nintendo Wii as long as you have a GameCube memory card and classic controller. The final game is the Wii game as it was originally mastered (including the hard expletive "Damn!" that was deleted from the latest reissue!).

Seriously, you'd be hard pressed to find three better games on the current and previous generation Nintendo platforms, particularly if you're a first-person shooter fan. If you've never played them, well, you owe yourself a chance to enjoy them for free! Oh, and one of them is still sealed (we rented from Gamefly and then picked it up locally but never got around to actually cracking it!). Not saying which.

Here's how to enter:

Simply post a comment on this page. Say whatever is on your mind as long as it's not an ad or profane. Be sure to read the Sweepstakes Rules to ensure you are eligible to win and don't get disqualified by double-posting or forgetting to provide an e-mail address.

You may also want to white list this domain; we've had several would-be winners lose out because they never responded to their prize notification! If you use TypeKey/TypePad, be sure your e-mail address will be shared. No e-mail address, no prize. (Don't worry, no one else will see it - and we'll only use it to contact you if you win.)

Note that unless you're an authenticated poster who has been active on the site and marked as trusted, your comment will NOT appear immediately. It will go into a queue for me to approve, which I'll do several times a day (except the first weekend, where comments may not be approved until sometime late on Sunday). Do NOT double-post. We'll extend the entry period for this until 5:01 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, September 10 to ensure you have plenty of time to enter and verify your entry was posted.

We also sometimes give away unannounced Instant Win prizes. Here are a few tips since this can happen at any time. (We are long overdue for one - and post PAX, it's a good bet we'll have something!) 1) Follow Gamewatcher on Twitter. Before we post the next Free Stuff Bonus - Instant Win, we'll give you a fair warning tweet. 2) Subscribe to our RSS feed and set it to check for updates frequently.

We continue to stock up on cool goodies for Free Stuff Friday - and we will keep doing so as long as there's enough response, even if we continue to lose money on this site. So tell your friends about this! Hey, if we get bigger, so will the prizes that YOU could win!

While you're at it, post comments wherever you see something interesting. Also, if you get a game code you don't need or have some other cool game-related prize you want to donate, we'd be very grateful (we pay for most of this stuff ourselves!).

Check back each Friday to see what's next.

I'd love to win this, I've never had a chance to play any of the metroid games since the original on the NES. Congrats to whoever won last weeks prize.

Amazing prizes this week. Glad I caught the link over facebook.

She is a girl! Still one heck of a shocker when I played the first one.

Never played any of the Metroid Prime games. This would be cool. Have fun at PAX!

We just got a Wii two weeks ago. It replaced our trusty, but dated, Gamecube. My kids (and I) would love to play these games. Congrats to the lucky winner.

I haven't played metroid since the snes. Shadow Complex has been taking of my 2D fix, but I'm ready to make the 3D metroid jump.

great stuff this week, thanks gamewatcher

Metroid is a great game.

Never got to play them before and would love a chance to now.

Completely unrelated to Metroid:

Lyoto Machida will defeat Mauricio Shogun Rua at UFC 104!!!

I have only played the wii version and was fun but people say that the first one is the best of the series so it will be cool to play the whole series. Thanks for contest Hope you pick me.

I've really wanted Metroid Prime 3, but it hasn't been in my price range. Free is the right price and a replay of the first 2 games would an awesome refresher. I'm new to Free Stuff Friday, so I haven't been around the whole year it has, but I love it. Thank you for continuing to do these!

Hope to be playing the Metroid Prime Trilogy soon. Thanks GameWatcher

Cucumber sauce on sauteed beef is actually quite tasty.

Never played these ones, just had the one for the GBA.

I dig winning prizes...wink wink

Oh wow, what a great giveaway. Consider me entered!

What an amazing prize not only do you get to relive the past but foloow the whole Prime series.

There is nothing cooler then a chick with a gun shooting down aliens. I haven't played any of these except the older ones. Best give away ever, now where is the metroid movie?

oh, oh ... pick me ... pick me!!!

Another week, another entry. I never win.

That's an awesome prize. Whether in its 2-D or 3-D incarnations, one thing always stays the same...Metroid rocks.

Always wanted to play these games but never got the chance. Good luck to everyone (and I hope I win!)

The only thing that could be better is a copy of Super Metroid for the SNES.

Metroid Prime 1 hands down was the best 6$ I could say I spent on my gamecube back in the day Metroid Prime 2 : Echoes was a blast too but I felt that it sometimes took backtracking a little bit to the extreme. but that's doesn't mean it's a a bad game by any means. , I can't make a basis on metroid prime 3 as I've never played it X_X but I'll plan to at some point.

Love Metroid, hope my luck is good.

I've never played any of the Metroid games, so this would be a great prize to win. I've only heard good about this series.

i can't wait for Other M to come out, metroid is such a classic series

Sweet giveaway - I love Metroid!

i love metroid. i wanna win it

I never finished Metroid Prime; found it a bit too difficult. Very immersing game though.

3 good games. Knowing that something as innocuous as "Damn!" was removed from the re-released trilogy makes me want the original even more. I mean come on!

These games rule, though I like the original style of metroid more.

What a fantastic giveaway! Thank you so much.

Never beat Metroid Prime. I got pretty far in it and then I went off to college. When I came back my brother had sold it. Thank you very much.

WOOOW!!! These prizes look sooo awesome! Good Luck to anyone who wins!

Neil Blomkamp Metroid movie anyone?

Another great giveaway!

I love Metroid. I love Metroid. I love Metroid. If I thought I could get away with saying it five more times I would. I freely admit when I heard about Prime I was one of the skeptics. Not the biggest skeptic but I was hugely against it. Then I played it and realized what magic was wrought forth from the ether.

I like free stuff =)

Would love to play these Metroid games.

Can't say no to having more Samus.

I've only played the first two at a friend's house, but they were awesome.

These are some of the best games released for both the NGC and Wii. Good luck to all.

That is one sweet deal

Cool package I'm glad they ported them to Wii

I'm in.

Metroid is one of my favorite series of all time. I would be so happy to win. Count me in!

This is my first time here so I'm not sure what the prizes are usually like, but this is a pretty nice deal.

I want to pick this game up. Happy anniversary.
