Free Stuff Friday - Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup and Blu-ray movies

Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup    Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Blu-ray
This week's Free Stuff Friday giveaway is a two-parter. First, there's the game: Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup. If you've ever wanted to experience the thrill of a Quidditch match firsthand, this game is pretty good. A couple years ago it marked one of the first games I played from EA after taking a long break from them, but it does require a PS2 or an older PS3 that supports backward compatibility. I'm not even much of a sports game fan, and I enjoyed it!

Then there are the Blu-rays. We recently picked up the boxset of the first 5 Harry Potter films, which left us with extra copies of Goblet of Fire (my personal fave to date!) and Order of the Phoenix. (We also had Harry Potter 1-3 on regular DVD, but donated those to the local Boys & Girls Club.) Anyway, for these movies you'll need a PS3 or standalone Blu-ray player.

Here's the twist. You can play for all of the prizes, but you need to promise you have the hardware for them. Otherwise, we ask that you ONLY play for the game or the movies, depending on what you do have and let someone else win the other. For the record, the Goblet of Fire movie lacks its own case so it will be tucked into the box for Harry Potter 5.

Here's how to enter:

Simply post a comment on this page. Say whatever is on your mind as long as it's not an ad or profane and INCLUDE WHETHER YOU'RE PLAYING FOR THE GAME, THE MOVIES, OR BOTH (and only play for what you have the hardware to enjoy!). Be sure to read the Sweepstakes Rules to ensure you are eligible to win and don't get disqualified by double-posting or forgetting to provide an e-mail address.

You may also want to white list this domain; we've had several would-be winners lose out because they never responded to their prize notification! If you use TypeKey/TypePad, be sure your e-mail address will be shared. No e-mail address, no prize. (Don't worry, no one else will see it - and we'll only use it to contact you if you win.)

Note that unless you're an authenticated poster who has been active on the site and marked as trusted, your comment will NOT appear immediately. It will go into a queue for me to approve, which I'll do several times a day (except the first weekend, where comments may not be approved until sometime late on Sunday). Do NOT double-post. We'll extend the entry period for this until 5:01 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, July 23 to ensure you have plenty of time to enter and verify your entry was posted.

We also sometimes give away unannounced Instant Win prizes. Here are a few tips since this can happen at any time. (We haven't done one of these in awhile, so we're overdue!) 1) Follow Gamewatcher on Twitter. Before we post the next Free Stuff Bonus - Instant Win, we'll give you a fair warning tweet. 2) Subscribe to our RSS feed and set it to check for updates frequently.

We continue to stock up on cool goodies for Free Stuff Friday (there's a cool Xbox 360 game coming soon!) - and we will keep doing so as long as there's enough response, even if we continue to lose money on this site. So tell your friends about this! Hey, if we get bigger, so will the prizes that YOU could win!

While you're at it, post comments wherever you see something interesting. Also, if you get a game code you don't need or have some other cool game-related prize you want to donate, we'd be grateful (we pay for most of this stuff ourselves).

Check back each Friday to see what's next.

1. NDK:

Count me in for just the Blu-rays, please.

While I do have the hardware for Quidditch game, I doubt that I would play it more than once.

2. FatmanOSU:

BOTH
I have a PS3 60GB so I am able to play everything.
I love me some Harry Potter.
Thanks

3. JJ:

That's awesome. My wife and I are big fans of Harry Potter, going to see the 6th movie this afternoon. Been listening to the audio-book of The Half Blood Prince for the past week in the evenings with the wife (setting ourselves up for disappointment I know).

I've got a first gen PS3 so I'd like to enter for both of the prizes. :-)

my PS3 doesn't have the BC but I do have a slim PS2 I just got 3 months ago. So I have hardware for both. I heard the newest movie was like Pirates 2... two and a half hours of nothing happening. Shame.

5. Dayna:

I would love to win both prizes! I have a ps2 and a bluray player. I haven't bought any bluray dvds in a while, so it would be nice to win a movie! :) I am also a huge harry potter fan--I've read all the books more than once and just saw the 6th movie yesterday!

6. Kyle:

Playing for both items!

7. Charles Ritter:

Im playing for both!!

Right now im thinking that Harry Potter 6 was the best and worst movie they made so far. Overall it was my favorite movie so far but I just cant help but compare it to the book and see all the great stuff they left out. Its crazy though it was still 2 hours and 33 mins despite everything they left out. It'd have to be 4 hours to get all the great stuff into the movie, but I think I would still love all 4 hours of it. I do recremend it to folks though.

8. Daniel:

I'm going for both. I know someone who would want the game and someone else for the blu-rays

9. Armando:

going for both, already saw the new movie and these would make a great addition to my small blu-ray collection and i never played the game but I don't think you could ever go wrong with anything that has quidditch in it.

10. Ghostcri:

Playing for the movies. I plan to see the new movie soon!

11. Daniel:

just the dvds as i no longer have a ps2, my friend is a huge harry potter fan and her birthday is coming up so theyd make a perfect gift.

12. Charity S. Author Profile Page:

17. Akari:

The blu-ray. Can't go wrong with a good movie in a great format!

18. Mike Singer:

I've never caught a hold of the whole Harry Potter series and I'd love to see the latest ones on Blu-ray so I know what to expect from Half-Blood Prince. I would also go for the game as well but I don't own a PlayStation. Good luck to everyone!

19. PandorasTmrw:

Hopefully I win!! Wooooo lol

20. Alex:

I really want both blu ray movies, I love the Harry Potter movies and would love to see them in high definition! I have a standalone blu ray player, no PS2 or PS3.

21. Jeremy:

I'll just play for the movies to give someone else a chance to win something. Just bought a Bluray player so those movies would look nice in my collection.

The Quidditch game was surprisingly fun. I wish EA had kept the franchise going.

23. constantfray:

I'm in for just the blu-rays.
I just watched HBP yesterday and I would have to say its a good flick.. the only negative was the ending of the movie. Quite a disappointment...

24. sabanoo:

I'll enter for the movies. I don't think I'd ever get around to playing the game.

25. Larry Perlman:

I rented quidditch world cup and loved it. It would be a nice addition to my games library.

26. Zack The Ripper:

I have a PS3 60 GB, I love the Harry Potter Series, I would love both the game and blurays, but would prefer the blu rays over the game.

27. Steve:

I'm in for the Blu-rays. Just saw Half-Blood Prince this afternoon.

The Blu-ray movies would look great on my T.V.

I was disappointed in the movie so much so that I'm reading the 6th book again... which will lead me to reading the 7th book again. A horrible cycle.

I would only want the movies... and I own a PS3 to play them so yay.

40. chakan:

I'm one of the lucky ones with a BC 60gig PS3, so I can play both. Thanks for the contest!
