Misery Loves Company - Broken Steel is a broken add-on

Fans of Fallout 3 have been waiting for months for the expansion that will finally boost their level cap to 30 and make it so the ending doesn't really end the game. Well, you might want to wait a bit longer. Reports are that both PC and Xbox 360 versions of the Broken Steel expansion are, well, broken in one way or another:

  • PC gamers have it worse. Due to a DRM issue, the add-on won't load and returns the message "Not a cryptographic message or the cryptographic message is not formatted correctly." The download has been pulled until it can be fixed. Those who bought it won't be charged twice to get the corrected version.
  • The Xbox 360 version is so far reportedly stable (at least as stable as the game itself), but causes problems with your achievements. It seems that some achievements appear but then don't get recorded and/or don't get added to your gamerscore.
