Free Stuff Friday - Guitar Hero: On Tour

Guitar Hero: On TourIf you've ever wanted Guitar Hero: On Tour but didn't want to buy it, well, join the club! The game's craptastic ad campaign ensured its marketing target was squarely focused on that lucrative tween demographic. But the game is actually a decent little portable rhythm title - as long as you don't have one of those newfangled DSis that lacks a GBA slot for the required grip accessory. I primarily brought it out during weekend getaways when I couldn't readily grab my Rock Band guitar and found it fun to play, at least in short bursts.

Since I upgraded and gave away my faithful DS last week, I no longer have a portable to play it on. So here's your chance to get it for the price of one very lucky comment.

Here's how to enter:

Simply post a comment on this page. Say whatever is on your mind as long as it's not an ad or profane. Be sure to read the Sweepstakes Rules to ensure you are eligible to win and don't get disqualified by double-posting or forgetting to provide an e-mail address.

You may also want to white list this domain; I've had several would-be winners lose out because they never responded to their prize notification! If you use TypeKey/TypePad, be sure your e-mail address will be shared. No e-mail address, no prize. (Don't worry, no one else will see it - and I'll only use it to contact you if you win.)

Note that unless you're an authenticated poster who has been active on the site and marked as trusted, your comment will NOT appear immediately. It will go into a queue for me to approve, which I'll do several times a day (except the first weekend, where comments may not be approved until sometime late on Sunday). Do NOT double-post. We'll extend the entry period for this until 5:01 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, May 7 to ensure you have plenty of time to enter and verify your entry was posted.

We also give away unannounced Instant Win prizes (another one is coming soon, probably in the next week!). Here are a few tips since it can happen at any time. 1) Follow me on Twitter. Before I post the next Free Stuff Bonus - Instant Win, I'll give you a fair warning tweet. 2) Subscribe to our RSS feed and set it to check for updates frequently.

We continue to stock up on cool goodies for Free Stuff Friday - and will keep doing so as long as there's enough response, even if we continue to lose money on the site. So tell your friends about this! Hey, if we get bigger, so will the prizes that YOU could win! Check back each Friday to see what's next.

You have to admit the Guitar Hero Metallica commercials were pretty good. Seeing that lovely suburban two story home blown up by the band is so metal.

2. koruwa:

good luck everyone :P

3. Shuino:

"If you've ever wanted Guitar Hero: On Tour but didn't want to buy it" That pretty much sums it up for me XD. But the game really doesn't seem that bad, but I'd like to just spend my money else where :-P. But if I win it I'd so play the hell out of it!

4. Larry Perlman:

Cool i heard about this but i always thouhgt it was a little pricey thanks for the giveaway

5. lowkrow:

the ad was quite entertaining haha

6. FatmanOSU:

Maybe I will not suck at this Guitar Hero as much.

7. Angie:

My niece has been begging me to buy this for her the last couple of months. It would be nice to win it:)

8. kyle:

I can still play this b/c I don't have a DSi yet!!

9. CrunchbiteNuva:

Great...GH on the go...awesome

10. JJ:

Well, I may be a bit biased, but I think the best guitar hero commercial was the one where Heidi Klum was spoofing off Tom Cruise in Risky Business... I don't know why but I could watch that video over and over..

Mildly NSFW (Model in underwear)

11. Onyx Primal:

Sweet. I'm a sucker for any of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games. My whole family loves to play together. If you are asking who bought those Spongebob Songs for Rock Band 2, then you need look no further than my 4 year old girl. :)

12. deadbodyman11:

I definently agree that the best guitar hero ad was Heidi Klum in her underwear. Anyway, I would love to win this.

13. Ghostcri:

I think this might be fun to play on my old ds =)

14. Silvercube:

Hi! ^_^

It's been awhile since I last stopped by this blog, happy to see it's still doing well.

I have a DS and I would love to try this game. : )

My name is SHANE STONE and my DS wants to ROCK OUT!

18. Daniel:

I don't have any game like this and for me, it would be nice to try this crap out (even though It would be a completely different experience than the console ones).

19. Maxx M.:

This would make a great surprise for my girlfriend's cousin.

20. Lurfadur:

I am a die-hard Guitar Hero fan with a Nintendo DS that I never touch. I'd totally get this with money if there weren't better games available. Hope I win. :D

24. kratos1010:

I could use a good new DS game.

25. dwb6 Author Profile Page:

This game would be an awesome collection for my GH stuff.

26. Steven S.:

Looks pretty kewl, played it once and i liked it.

27. Hien N:

My sister likes Rock Band on Wii but I'm not sure about the DS. Never played it on DS. I'm sure it'd feel a lot different when playing on a handheld compared to a console. XD Well, let's see who's the lucky winner!

28. Julian R:

I love music games but never wanted to drop $50 on this. It looks interesting though...

29. GenDV138 Author Profile Page:

Thanks for the giveaway, good luck all!

30. Mark Draper:

Well that was pretty entertaining.. I freaking love this series. Can't get enough! Thanks for the opportunity!

31. Icarusdown:

Never actually saw the commercials.

32. Ch33ps:

I'm not really a Guitar Hero fan but this game does look pretty fun. Also, that decal it comes with will come in handy if I decide to get the other one that's coming out soon as I'll just have to buy the game and not the bundle (assuming it's decal is compatible with the other one).

33. Oxyrib:

Hmm.. It would be interesting to try this portable version.

34. KirbyFox:

I've played this at the stores. It was decent for what it was, but in the end I'm not too sure how I feel about it. I'd like to see what they do for the DSi version they've apparently been working on.

35. donteatsoap7:

Woo

36. blaze:

40. videogamsta:

This would be cool if I could win this.

41. Steven DeStefano:

Yeah, the ad campaign was pretty bad xD.

But hey, my sister would probably like this :D.

42. Akari:

That truly is the lamest ad I've ever seen. But hey, I'd play it for free...

43. Nelo Ice:

44. Dendaman:

I've actually been somewhat interested in this. Good luck all!

57. JediJames2:

Very cool, cannot argue with free stuff!

58. Zero:

I was at an arcade, playing a line up the lights game.

I had to get 2 5 five star rounds to beat it to get On Tour, and when I tried to do it the second time on the last star i always missed it by one. I felt so bad cause i went through $20 that day trying to get it when I could have bought it lol

59. archangelreb:

God please help me to win this game.

60. the man:

free stuff friday!!!

61. spoo:

My Wife has been wanting this game since she played our nephew's DS Guitar Hero game.

67. Gamewatcher:

And the winner is: 25. dwb6!

Good news for you TypeKey/TypePad types - e-mail addresses are now coming over as they should as long as you choose to share them on TypePad when you post. They will not be displayed; only I will see them and I'll only use them to contact you if you win.

The next Free Stuff Friday is only a few hours away. You can get a preview if you are a fan on Busy Gamer News on Facebook. (Not the group, the fan page. Yeah, I know, but fan pages have photo albums.)
