Free Stuff Friday - Xbox 'Duke' controllers (4)

Xbox Duke ControllerThis week, I have not one but four prizes: original Xbox "Duke" controllers. These are the oversized controllers that shipped with the Xbox and were beloved by many and ridiculed by many more. These units have never been used so they should last a good long time. If you still have an original Xbox and miss the good ol' days with this oversized but still amazingly comfortable-for-most controller, or perhaps want something to mod into a fishbowl or planter or some other artistic yet geeky creation, enter now.

I'll draw four winners this time, or if only four people enter then you'll make my job even easier. Don't have an original Xbox but know someone who does? Let them know so they can try for one.

To enter:

Simply post a comment on this page - whatever is on your mind as long as it's not an ad or profane. Be sure to read the Sweepstakes Rules to ensure you are eligible to win and don't get disqualified by double-posting or forgetting to provide an e-mail address. Note that unless you're an authenticated poster who has been active on the site and marked as trusted, your comment will NOT appear immediately. It will go into a queue for me to approve, which I'll do several times a day. Do NOT double-post. We'll extend the entry period for this until 11:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, October 9 to ensure you have plenty of time to enter and verify your entry was accepted.

Hey :)

I saw a post on the Xbox.com forums, I would love an original Duke controller :)

I still play my original xbox from time to time. Mainly for Dead or Alive Ultimate, Halo 2, DDR Ultramix 2 amd Syberia 2.

Good luck with the blog - I have one too.

So there's free stuff every friday given out? That's awesome!

Take Care,
Silvercube

2. John Abilu:

I would like one please!

3. Austin:

Cool, those are some sweet contrtollers

4. Frank:

I still use my old Xbox. I got the one with the S type. Would be nice to have the old Duke controller.

5. Josh:

Sweet, I could use another controller.

6. Armando:

great controller for fps games

7. Brandon S.:

Nice of you to do a promotion like this. I was one of the few who actually LIKED the Duke controller, and I would like to pick one up again having sold my original one away. If I win I think I might look into getting it modded to work on the 360 :D

Thanks again.

8. Geo:

Shiny. Never did figure out why people used those horrible miniature ones they released later.

9. Geovannie:

Oh yeah, Hunter the Reckoning 2 player here I come. "Awesome" Free Stuff.

10. Ness3:

I remember these things. Good ol' days of Halo 1.

11. Warren:

My enormous manly hands require enormous manly controllers to hold and coddle.

12. Lance Towner:

haha, i remember those controllers, hope i win!

13. Brian:

What a cool contest!

14. jonathan espinal:

huge control is hugeeeeeeeeeee1!!!!

15. Rand0mGuy:

I hope I win, this is a piece of gaming history (ok, not a rare one, but still).

16. clankjak:

Those things were monsters, I remember. Still better than a Wiimote though.

17. Matt:

I only have ever used the S type controller. Would be cool to check out the original.

18. Jake:

These controllers are crazy good :]
My sister could deff. use them since she's stuck with the original Xbox while i have the 360.

19. Nick:

The duke was my favorite xbox controller. By far the best one made. I myself have a broken one that im still attempting to fix. Winning one would make my life much easier.

20. Akari:

I loved the large ones and hated the S-style controllers, pretty much only because of the changed white/black button placement.

21. Jigsaw hc:

The Duke is my favorite controller. It works so well.

22. Brandon:

Oh, this takes me back to the days of Halo 1. Must...have....Now!

23. Dean M:

I was a big fan of the DUKE controller. I definetely preferred it over the S-controller and it's relocated Black-White and smaller back & start buttons. I wish a there was a throw back version for the 360 with the added RB & LB. My original Duke is worn beyond reusabilty so this would be nice to win for me.

24. Nathan:

Oh man, i could use one of these for that console i got free, with no cords

25. Jay:

I love this controller, its feels more comfortable in my giant hands than those puny s controllers, but its hard to find it in stores these days, i must win!

26. Ciscomancer:

Not the biggest duke I am going to see today. Had mickey D's for lunch.

27. Joseph:

I never actually used the orignal duke controller before but I would be happy to try one if I get it for free.

Ah what the hell, couldn't hurt.

29. Alex:

Couldn't hurt to enter :D

30. Roger:

Free controller ftw

31. JLarkin:

I'll try my luck with this drawing.
I didn't have an original Xbox, so I got one to play all the games that haven't hit the 360 BC list yet. I'd love to get my hands on an original Duke!

32. ONESTAR:

I loved the duke controller, some games were just more comfortable to play with it. Here is hoping I win one of them!

33. LaraCroftsLeftBoob:

never used the original controllers, but still play my xbox. sure, i'll take a chance at a free controller. thanks.

34. Adam:

I've got an original xbox with no controllers, so this is perfect for me! :-)

35. JetPackJohnny:

I remember my friend saying he loved the Dukes, I was fond of it too but everyone else I talked to always had problems with it, cause it too big. All I have are controller S' so this would be nice to have.

36. RAY16:

I love The Duke. The Controller-S is nice, but The Duke feels a lot more comfortable in my hands. Not only that, but the placement of the Black and White buttons is far better on The Duke. I'd love to have a fresh one.

37. Bared:

Are you allowed to give away heavy weapons in contests?

38. Eric:

I actually liked the large xbox controllers (of course, I like the Jaguar's pads, too... tiny joypads are not for me). I could use another controller for the rare three-player game, or as a replacement as my toddlers put my old one through a stress-test.

39. Mike:

the old controllers are still the best!

40. Thomas:

All right, large XBox controllers! Especially brand new ones. Awesome contest!

41. JT:

Is it wrong to win this if I've never owned or played an original XBox and have no idea how much different these are from the smaller ones?

I'd love some Dukes

43. Mike Sweeney:

Big Dirty loves the Big Controller!

44. juvo:

I have been needing a replacement, but the "Duke" style are hard to find.

45. Jimmy Bun:

I will win this. You know why? AMERICA Rules!!!!

46. Chase:

Man I miss the Duke. They ended up changing it to try and appeal to asians with smaller hands, but dammit MS is an American company, make a controller for my grease and blood covered, man hands!

47. bryan kot:

=( I bought my xbox late in the game when shenmue 2 was released, and only had the small controllers. I've never even got to use the duke before. Hopefully I get the chance =)

Oh, how I miss my old Dukes.

49. klwillis45:

The Duke is the best. S controllers are horrible.

50. Gamewatcher :

Wow, great entries everyone! I've drawn and sent mail to the 4 winners:

Warren
John Abilu
Armando
Jay

I'll post a new drawing tomorrow. I'm thinking of giving away multiple prizes again, but with a twist.

51. Gamewatcher :

Just a quick note- John Abilu was disqualified (lives in Canada) so I drew another winner: Matt.
