One big news flash from E3 this week was the official Rock Band 2 track list (see last week's mostly accurate rumor post, now updated to match the announcement). Red Octane still hasn't announced its final songs, but did reveal that The Eagles and Van Halen are exclusive to Guitar Hero: World Tour. Also, apparently for Guitar Hero 3, there will be a Metallica pack released for download in September on the same day as the Death Magnetic album release (not stated how many playable tracks), and there will be some sort of REM downloadable content coming to the Xbox 360 first.
OK, so pretty weak (and vague) sauce from Red Octane, unless you're a hardcore Eagles/Metallica/REM/Van Halen fan. They really need to step up if they want a shot at converting Rock Band players. And when they do announce something, perhaps make the facts just a little clearer...
UPDATE: Metallica confirmed that the full Death Magnetic album will be available for Guitar Hero III, with some content from the album for World Tour when it's released. Seems to me that Red Octane already confirmed you'll be able to play your GH III songs in World Tour, though they haven't revealed if they'll augment them with drums and vocals.
