Rock Band Round-up - Demo units, controller update and final set list

First off, be careful out there. Some Rock Band demo units, packaged suspiciously like retail product, have been sold already by dimwitted clerks. If you see an eBay auction that's too good to be true, it's probably because someone bought the less-than-complete game by mistake, thinking they're cracked the Nov. 20 street date. Next, an update on those pesky guitar controller issues. It seems some of the early reports were false:
  • Guitar Hero II and IIII controllers do work with both Rock Band and Guitar Hero III, though you won't be able to activate Rock Band special effects with them
  • The Guitar Hero III controller for PS3 won't work with Guitar Hero II in backward compatible consoles
  • The Rock Band guitar (at least the prerelease version given to reviewers) actually won't work with Guitar Hero II and IIII
Finally, Harmonix released the final set list for Rock Band:
  • Train Kept a Rollin (Aerosmith) - cover
  • Sabotage (Beastie Boys)
  • Paranoid (Black Sabbath) - cover
  • Don't Fear the Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult)

  • Run to the Hills (Iron Maiden) - cover
  • Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Jet)

  • Gimme Shelter (Rolling Stones)
  • Tom Sawyer (Rush) - cover
  • Cherub Rock (Smashing Pumpkins)
  • Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden)
  • Vasoline (Stone Temple Pilots)
  • Reptilia (The Strokes)
  • Ballroom Blitz (Sweet) - cover
  • Say It Ain't So (Weezer)
  • Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who)
  • Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
There will also be 13 unlockable indie tracks. The only one that's been revealed so far is Pleasure (Pleasure) by Bang Camaro. Oh, and EA warns that Rock Band will be in short supply, so if you see one (and verify that it's really the full game!), you might want to grab it...
