Misery Loves Company - Assassin's Creed freeze on PS3

PS3 owners are reporting an annoying Assassin's Creed freeze-up problem (dubbed the "white screen of death") along with some other in-game glitching. In most cases, the problems have been traced to the v2.0 firmware update. Simply disable the impractical news ticker and you should be OK. Sony is reportedly rushing out a new update to address this issue; maybe while they're at it, they'll replace the tiny ticker with something that is actually readable...

UPDATE: v2.01 is out and appears to fix issues with the dashboard and news ticker, but reportedly introduces problems for Call of Duty 4.
