There's a lot of misinformation out there about the whole Matrix on HD-DVD and Xbox 360 thing, but here's what we've confirmed: If you cheap out and buy The Complete Matrix Trilogy HD-DVD set (which includes the three movies, but lacks the two bonus discs of The Ultimate Matrix Collection), you can get the most desirable of these extras - The Animatrix - for free. You just need an Xbox 360 with about 1.2GB available on the hard drive. Specially marked Matrix Trilogy boxes include a token good for free download of the full Animatrix movie (alas, only in standard definition). Also on Xbox Live Marketplace: Fans on the fence can download a bunch of HD previews, including the awesome lobby sequence from the first movie (a snippet, to be exact). If you're looking for The Animatrix in Marketplace, it's under TV Shows (huh?) - and there's a free SD episode. There are also some Matrix themes and gamer pics for sale at the usual price points...
