Whoa! - Apple unveils iPod games

Bejeweled on iPodThe iPod has had games for awhile, but they've been strictly cheap, spartan affairs: solitaire, a breakout clone and a sluggish and buggy music quiz. No more. Apple has launched a new downloadable game service with top titles from EA, Popcap, Namco and FreshGames:

  • Bejeweled
  • Cubis 2
  • Mahjong
  • Mini Golf
  • PAC-MAN
  • Tetris
  • Texas Hold ‘Em
  • Vortex
  • Zuma
Looking for a catch? Each title is $5 and you will need one of the pricey fifth-generation video iPods to play them. And - unlike iTunes music and videos - the games won't play on your PC. Building on its success with music videos and TV shows, iTunes now offers downloadable feature films for $10-15 apiece. With all of this new content to fill your device, it's not surprising Apple's also launched a new 80GB iPod to go with it...
